Cornell Students Award $60K to Local Nonprofits

Nineteen nonprofits in Tompkins County received a total of $60,000 in grants this month. The grants were awarded by graduate students in a philanthropic leadership class at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. The class focuses on the importance of giving back to the local community.

Sarah Carr, a law and MBA student in the class, led a team that researched local food insecurity. Carr said she initially felt disconnected from Ithaca due to her busy class schedule. However, her work with the class has made her feel more connected to the town and its needs.

The grants will support various local organizations throughout Tompkins County, providing financial assistance where it is most needed.
