Syracuse DAV Receives Van for Veteran Transportation

Staff Report / syracuselocal.org

The Syracuse Disabled American Veterans (DAV) chapter has received a new van, Van #7258, donated by Mr. David Hartley in honor of his mother, Margaret “Peggy” Hartley. This van will be used to assist Veterans in the Rome, NY area with transportation to medical appointments.

In the year to date, DAV drivers have dedicated over 17,000 hours, traveled 300,000 miles, and transported 14,000 Veterans. The Syracuse DAV chapter serves a wide area spanning 14 counties and approximately 26,000 square miles, reaching from the Canadian border to Pennsylvania.

The DAV relies on donations to continue its support for local Veterans. Those interested in volunteering or making a donation can contact the Syracuse VA Medical Center DAV office for more information.
