Dr. Downs has extensive experience working in Tanzania through her long-term association with Weill Bugando School of Medicine, a partner of Weill Cornell Medicine. In a statement, Downs described schistosomiasis as a "horrifying disease" and highlighted the severity of the infection in Tanzania.
