Geneva High School alumna Emily McFadden, a member of the Cornell University Class of 2025, has been named a Merrill Presidential Scholar. The honor recognizes academic excellence, leadership, and the promise of future contributions to society.

As part of the award, each Merrill Scholar is invited to name a secondary teacher or mentor who played a significant role in their educational journey. McFadden selected Kristen Abbott, a Geneva City School educator known for her compassionate teaching and dedication to students.

Cornell University celebrated both McFadden and Abbott during the recognition event, highlighting the important connection between student success and the guidance provided by educators.
